Our university team is scaling from 1 to 7 sites for a pragmatic RCT next summer, and I’m deciding between REDCap (v14) and Castor for eCRFs, randomization, and monitoring. If you’ve moved data from either into a reproducible R/Quarto pipeline and through publication, did SDTM-ready exports and audit trails satisfy monitors and journal reviewers?
We ran a 6-site RCT on Castor; the SDTM export plus an “audit trail PDF” and e-signature log satisfied monitors, and our R/Quarto pipeline just pulled nightly via the REST API (Castor EDC API Documentation) with a versioned mapping table. If you lean REDCap v14, plan for ODM XML + REDCapR and do a dry-run data cut now — belt-and-suspenders before summer. Do you need stratified randomization by site, or are central blocks fine?
