Ever notice how some drug names could easily be the title of a terrible sci-fi flick? I mean, trying to explain Rybelsus to my grandmother was an adventure in itself. We’re researching meds that do incredible things, yet I spend half my time deciphering what the heck we named them. Anyone else have funny experiences trying to communicate the latest in our pipeline to non-scientists?
I told my friend about Farxiga and he thought it was a new character in a Marvel movie. At this rate, we might as well cast the whole pharmacy as superheroes! Ever had to do a double-take on the name of a med?
It’s wild how those names can trip you up! Once, I called a med ‘Bextram’ in front of a patient, and they thought I was asking for a Netflix recommendation.

Totally get that! It’s like we’re living in a universe where every med could be a potential blockbuster — i once lost a bet explaining Ozempic to my cousin — thought I was pitching a theme park ride instead! Have you had any success with simpler explanations, @sophia_holt92?
