Would You Take This Job? – Clinical Research Associate III (Site Management & Monitoring)

Clinical Research Associate III (Site Management & Monitoring)

Employer: Global Channel Management, Inc.
Location: Atlanta, GA (in-person; local to study sites)
Pay: $50.00 per hour
Type: Clinical Research Associate III — site management & monitoring (contract)

What You’ll Do:
Monitor and manage clinical study sites, perform site initiation/monitoring/close-out visits, verify source data and regulatory compliance (GCP), document findings and follow-up actions, collaborate with project teams to resolve queries, and ensure trials are conducted according to protocol and regulatory requirements.

Why It Stands Out:
• High hourly rate for a field CRA role — competitive compensation for experienced monitors
• Broad responsibility across site management activities — strong experience-building for monitoring and project leadership
• Contract work can offer schedule flexibility and higher hourly compensation than some salaried roles

Potential Trade-offs:
• Travel-heavy — expect frequent site visits and time away from home
• Contract position — confirm contract length, conversion potential, and benefits with the recruiter
• Senior-level expectations — requires proven CRA/site-monitoring experience; not suitable for entry-level candidates

This role fits you if you want high hourly pay, extensive site-monitoring responsibility, and hands-on CRA experience — would you take this job, or should I pull a permanent or remote clinical research role instead?

I did a similar Atlanta CRA III contract at $52/hr, and the hidden cost was non-billable time - report writing and traffic ate 6-8 hours a week. If you move forward, make sure travel time, mileage/parking, and monitoring report QC are billable, and get the active-site cap in writing.

At $50/hr in Atlanta, I’d only bite if they pay drive time and let you log report writing, because ugh those monitoring visit reports can eat your evenings. On my last CRA III contract, I lost about 6 hours/week to traffic between site initiation and close-out visits that wasn’t billable, so I negotiated a 4x10 schedule and a mileage cap — made a huge difference. Ask up front about non-billable expectations and whether TMF clean-up is compensated.

Quick tip: ask for a same-day cancellation fee and a minimum billable block if a site pulls the plug after you’ve already headed out — saved me when two coordinators called out and my calendar imploded. Also confirm mileage rate (IRS vs flat), parking/tolls, and paid onboarding/training; a company hotspot and hotel Wi‑Fi reimbursement go a long way. If they’ll put that in the SOW, $50 feels more like a fair shake than a coin flip.
