Job Title: Research Assistant
Company: Johns Hopkins University
Location: Baltimore, MD 21287 (Hybrid: on-site 3–4 days/week)
Pay: $17.20–$30.30/hour (targeted $23.75/hr, commensurate with experience)
Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities:

  • Support research programs and/or clinical trials with data collection and organization
  • Recruit and coordinate research participants, verify eligibility, and schedule follow-up visits
  • Collect data through interviews, patient specimens, and database management
  • Maintain accurate paper and electronic research files
  • Prepare reports, assist with grant writing, and participate in audits
  • Attend research meetings, maintain agendas and minutes, and assist with IRB documentation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (education/experience equivalencies may apply)
  • Experience with clinical trials or research a plus
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

If you take it, use those β€œ3–4 days/week on-site” to sit in on consent visits and practice the screening script; when I did that in a Hopkins lab, my enrollment rate jumped within a month. I’d also ask whether they use REDCap and if the β€œtargeted $23.75/hr” includes comp time for after-hours recruitment so you’re not eating extra calls.
